Healing

Healing, forgiveness, apology, justice, and dignity are key elements of political conflict, especially if that conflict has been violent in the past. A recent study of attitudes in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict showed that for both sides, an apology from the other side was one of the most important steps in restoring dignity and creating peace.

Without addressing the human need for closure and dignity—and offering a chance for forgiveness as well as a possibility of justice—many conflicts cannot be ended. They can only, at best, be postponed.
