Eugene City of Peace

The purpose of this multi-faceted, collaborative project is to produce measurable results from violence prevention and reduction programs, conflict resolution education, and other ways of guaranteeing all people the right to be different and to be safe.  The facts and figures from these projects may be evidence enough to convince our lawmakers to permanently fund them, perhaps as a Department of Peace, perhaps in some other way.

Regardless of what actions that governments may take, I believe we as ordinary citizens have it within our power to replace our existing culture of violence with a culture of nonviolence, to make our city a model for others to look at with amazement and recognize instantaneously that we have created an answer, a solution to multiple problems.
