Mothers for Peace

As the legal intervenor against the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in its rulings regarding matters of safety, terrorism, and seismic issues at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County, California, the Mothers for Peace have filed a case in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco dealing with issues of secrecy with regard to safety at the nuclear plant. This is our second case in the Federal Court, the first being judged in our favor in 2006. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission chose to ignore the court's ruling, and so we have returned to court.   

Only by stopping the generation of plutonium, the lethal poison produced by nuclear fusion, can we facilitate the slowdown and stoppage of the nuclear arms buildup world-wide. Nuclear waste is radioactive and harmful to the environment for hundreds of thousands of years. We are committed to protecting future generations from being exposed to the harm caused by nuclear contamination.
